A new baby being born is such an exciting time for new parents. The first born can bring with it special anticipation. However, if this is your first time having a child, there may be things you do not know about yet. There are numerous responsibilities that come along with having a baby. The comfort of the child is one of your biggest priorities. Comfort is important because the child will be able to relax and sleep, and if he or she can, you may earn some much needed relief, as well! A baby pillow is one often overlooked as one thing that can improve the comfort of your child, and yourself.

It is possible you think your child is too young for a baby pillow if your child is under 2. Doctors ONLY recommend baby pillows for children over two, so this could be the case. Regardless, sometimes a baby pillow can be used to good effect before the second year, and certainly after. If your child has a cold or respiratory infection, a baby pillow can help drainage, which can lessen coughing. Also, in the case of an ear ache, relief can be found if a baby lies on his or her side, head propped up on a pillow. Of course, you will want to consult a physician in both of these cases to be sure that your child will benefit from the baby pillow in such scenarios.

Another use for the baby pillow is in nursing. In this case, it can be a semi circular pillow that will cradle the head of a small child so that your hands are free to hold the body of the baby. If you use these nursing pillows for the neck of your child AND yourself, you can both be considerably more comfortable. In many cases, a baby pillow for nursing has helped children fall asleep.

If you are interested in having a baby pillow in the crib of your child as well as around his or her neck while nursing, keep reading. In selecting the right pillow for your baby, there are some guidelines to keep in mind. A baby pillow that is small in size is the first guideline. Normal pillows are too large because the baby cannot move them and they could lead to suffocation. The second guideline is to pick something without any decorations such as beading or fringe. This is so that the baby does not choke on small pieces that he or should could pull off the baby pillow. Third, it is best to find a pillow that is made of a natural material, like cotton or silk. Finally, you should be sure that the stuffing is not made of feathers, because that could cause an allergic reaction. So, the best pillow is small, made with natural materials, and has no sewn on embellishments. These tips can help you select a baby pillow that will put you and your child both at ease.

Do I Need Baby Pillows?

Nowadays, there are so many different types of baby pillows out there. All of them has a unique function, and there are some that you will be glad that you have! There are baby pillows that position the head and body of the baby while they are sleeping, there are baby pillows that are specifically designed for nursing, and there are even baby pillows designed to position a baby while they are riding in the car, just to name a few.

I really like the pillows for the bassinette which are positioned on both side of the baby while they sleep. These types of baby pillows position baby so that he or she is flat on their back, which is what is recommended. These are great baby pillows, but there is a new version that I think is even better. The new version of this pillow has memory foam which will mold to the shape of baby’s head, making it mold to the pillow The memory foam will help to prevent a flat area from forming on baby’s head. This baby pillow will also prevent baby from rolling around, helping to promote a peaceful night’s sleep because baby is in the same spot all night.

An additional type of baby pillow that is on the market today is known as a nursing pillow. These pillows are crescent shaping and come in handy for all sorts of things…not just nursing. I have found that they are great for supporting baby to view books, bottle feed, or be held, in addition to being great for nursing. These pillows are great for many things, and every mom should have one, whether they are nursing or not.

Care pillows prop baby’s head while going on a car trip. They are great for the baby to lean their head on for extra support, especially because they will most likely fall asleep. I really like them because they keep baby’s head away from the hard plastic on the car seat. Most car seats come with a pillow, but I prefer to purchase a separate one. It always seems like the ones that are included are just not quite as good as one that you have picked out yourself.

Baby pillows have so many convenient uses. You can use them for anything from helping to support the baby while feeding, to keeping a baby still while sleeping, to riding in the car. Some are a little expensive, but if you can use them over and over, they will definitely be worth every dime you have spent.

If a baby rolls over on a pillow in the crib and cannot push itself off of the pillow, the baby can suffocate. For children over the age of two, a baby sleep pillow make a great gift. Cuddling with a baby sleep pillow is something a child over two likes to do. A baby sleep pillow can offer a child comfort when they are trying to go to sleep.

Doctors do not recommend using a baby sleep pillow under the age of two. When a baby is sleeping in a crib and rolls over onto the pillow, the baby may not be able to push itself up off the pillow or roll off the pillow. If a baby rolls over onto the pillow face down, the baby could possibly die from suffocation. It is recommended that a baby sleep pillow not be used until a child is ready to sleep in a bed.

For children over the age of two, a baby sleep pillow is a wonderful item. Children are sometimes scared of the dark and hugging a baby pillow to their body can help calm their fears. The soft, springy material of the baby pillow offers comfort to a child who is trying to go to sleep. Children often cuddle up with a baby sleep pillow when they are alone because it helps them to feel less alone.

When a caregiver has to be away from a child, a baby sleep pillow can provide comfort. The springiness of the pillow mocks the softness of the body of the caregiver so when a child hugs a baby sleep pillow, it is very similar to hugging a caregiver. The comfort of hugging a baby sleep pillow can often help a child feel more secure.
